About Jennifer Moehrke
Jennifer Moehrke was an amazing woman and was my best friend for more than half my life. She was independent and spirited, loving and loved, a woman in her prime, a mother and grandmother.
She was one of the strongest people I have met. I never imagined she'd take her own life, but I know she suffered from depression and losing her made me realize how fragile even the strongest of us can be.
I work with children, and recently became aware of SAVE's suicide prevention education programs and realized supporting their efforts was a way to begin.
I will continue to look for effective ways to change our mental health system, but equipping children with the knowledge and vocabulary to express their feelings and needs and teaching them emotional self-regulation skills, including how to get help when it is needed, is a huge step in the right direction.
